Who We Are

3 Year Old and a Door is a female-led production company founded by mother and daughter Vanessa and Willow Joubert. Vanessa left the film Industry behind to raise willow, and taught her the amazing world of storytelling, Willow wanted to follow in her mothers footsteps. The company began its journey two years ago with the ambitious goal of bringing the life story of Pierre Joubert (willow's grandfather) to the screen. Vanessa producing, and Willow writing and directing.

Rather than following a traditional path into film, Vanessa guided Willow through a hands-on learning experience, choosing to make a feature film together instead of pursuing formal study. Over the past two years, this collaboration has not only shaped their creative voice but also deepened their understanding of the filmmaking process.

Along the way, they’ve connected with inspiring collaborators and discovered the power of community. As they continue to grow, their vision is to foster a strong, supportive network of filmmakers and create meaningful, authentic stories for the future.
